Kume Island’s Deep Sea Water Development Company is a small local company that creates numerous products from the Deep Sea Water obtained from the Okinawa Prefecture Deep Sea Water Research Institute. The Company has two primary areas of interest including Sea Grape production and Water and Salt production.

Sea Grapes, also known as Umi Budo are a high-end sea plant that is popular in Okinawa and surrounding countries. Sea Grapes depend on temperature controlled production which is provided by deep sea water.
